FARRAH SPENCER AND MONICA VOZAKIS CO-AUTHOR AN ARTICLE FOR THE DECEMBER ISSUE OF THE WYOMING LAWYER THAT ENCOURAGES THE ADOPTION OF STANDARDIZED PARENTING PLANS IN WYOMING
December 2013
Farrah Spencer, who practices family law in both Utah and Wyoming, observed that Utah’s statutory standardized parenting plans provided a great outline for divorcing parents to establish a detailed parenting plan and a detailed plan for courts to order if parents are unable to agree on a different plan. Utah’s parenting plans, based on developmental research, not only help divorcing families save limited resources and reduce conflict related to parenting time, but also gives courts the resources to order a detailed plan. Farrah felt that Wyoming families deserved the same and wanted to encourage Wyoming to adopt a similar standardized plan.
Farrah and Monica co-authored an article that was published in the December issue of the Wyoming Lawyer with the hopes to begin the discussion about statutory standardized parenting plans in Wyoming so that Wyoming families could have the same resources as those given to families in other states, such as Utah. Farrah and Monica would like to continue to advance this cause by assisting in drafting legislation to introduce standardized parenting plans in Wyoming.
