Prenuptial, Postnuptial & Cohabitation Agreements
Prenuptial agreements (prenups) establish, in advance, how property will be treated or divided at the time of divorce or death. They can also limit the amount of alimony that will be paid if the parties divorce. Postnuptial agreements are agreements between spouses executed after a marriage. Cohabitation agreements are legal contracts signed by people who want to live together without getting married but still want an understanding of their financial rights and obligations to one another until and after the relationship if dissolved.
